Free Your Creativity

Sigh... the weather in my neck of the wood is sooo pretty today. I usually struggle to wake up early during weekdays, but I have no problem getting up early on weekend. I guess, because I know I can go napping when I want to. Besides, the earlier I wake  up, the more time I'll have to play. :)

As usual, Saturday means new challenge from Wee Memories. This week we are sponsored by the generous Simon Says Stamp with the challenge theme it's "Free Your Creativity", which basically create whatever you want. How easy is that?

For my card I used this adorable penguin from Just Some Lines. Go check out all the awesome creation by the Wee Memories DT here.

Since I am a bit slacking on my 50 cards goal for Caring Hearts Card Drive, I decided to make another card. So far, I made 32, still 18 more to go and only 2 more weeks left for collecting. Have you send in your cards, yet? Better hurry!! :)

That's it for today. I still have to run errand, hmmm.. like getting last minute birthday present for my niece, Maddy who is celebrating her birthday today. She's turning 13! She's tickled pink that she's taller than me now. But, come on, her dad is 6'7, of course she's going to be taller than me. Yeah, she likes to rub it on that she's taller. Love her to pieces though.  Okie dokie... gotta go. Enjoy your weekend!

How To Train Your Dragon

LOL, how's  that for a blog title? Last night, I finally get to watch How To Train Your Dragon. I've been wanting to watch it since it came out. Don't laugh, but I love it! I thought "Toothless"  the dragon is so cute & adorable. I told you I am such a kid sometime. I love good animation. And How To Train Your Dragon is definitely my favorite animation for this year. Favorite of all time? The Lion King. Cried my eyes the first four times I watched it, when Mufasa,  the dad passed away.

Sigh..., okay don't judge here. LOL, I am not the only one, right, adult that love animation? Well, at least, I know both my brothers & mom love them, too. Even hubby, ended up enjoying watching it last night, eventhough at first he was hesitant to watch it. But, then he saw the amazing graphic & ended up liking it. Besides, he said when Toothess the dragon smile, it looks like our pug, Ollie. Hah! Yeah, definitely would be cool to have pet dragon.

Okay, okay, enough rambling. Here's my card for today. Another Christmas card. Are you sick, yet of seeing Christmas cards? Sorry, but with Caring Hearts Card Drive, all I am making these days are holiday cards. Oh yes, winner for Caring Hearts Blog Hop will be announced tomorrow!!

HA Pairing Up & MyGrafico

Today, I have another Hero Arts Pairing Up card. It's my second wekk of pairing up with Hannah F. Nicole. Our theme for this one is to create a "Thinking of you" card.

This time I am stepping out of my cofort zone a bit. I don't usually do distressing technique too often, but I figure I wouldn't know how much I'd like it or not if I don't try, right? So, based on Jennifer McGuire Thinking Inking class and using CPS 190 sketch, here's what I came up with.

The doggy is from Hero Arts for Silhouette. I am loving cutting shape with the text paper. Someone suggested I should try to sell the die-cut like that (I used the bird shape on my post here). I am tempted, but right now not sure how much time it would take. I haven't post anything on my Etsy shop for more than a year now. What do you think, should I try to sell die cut with text images?

Next, is my card for MyGrafico. This week, the DT get to play with this fun set.

And, here's my pirate/bat owl. LOL, Ii wasn't quite sure what hes costume supposed to be. But, for sun, I made the skull eye patch glittery. Heh... I thought it's more fun if the eye patch all sparkly. Added glitters on the wings, too. Check out all the eye candy from the DT here.

Challenges:
Karber Monthly - Digi stamp & fantasy (halloween, fairies, etc)
Crazy 4 Challenges - halloween
Ellephantastic - halloween

So, have you check out Caring Hearts Blog Hop, yet? Today is the last day to leave comments on all participating blogs to be eligible for prizes. You have till midnight and 3 winners will be announce on Friday! Cheers...

Rambling Thoughts

For Caring Hearts Blog Hop please scroll down or click HERE. You have till Wednesday to leave comment to be eligible for prizes :)

During Caring Hearts Blog Hop, what Savitri wrote captured my thought perfectly. Here's what she wrote: "I have a thing for old people, especially little sweet old men, they make me go “awwwwww” and reminds me of my own grandpa. But in general, lot of them just brings a smile to my face. A little squeeze on my arm, a little laugh, home made cookies, whatever… old folks gives me the warm and fuzzies."

That's exactly what I thought & feel about the elderly. I always have soft spot in my heart for kids & the elderly. I love those jovial old folks that greeted you with a warm hug & smile. They remind me so much of my dad, who always have huge smile on his face.

Am I rambling? Sorry, just really want to share what Savitri wrote, since I can so relate to that. Also, another note, Nancy Krueger, one of my HA Flickr friend, has an aunt that run a a non-profit charity called Letters from Home, in which she sends letters to lonely people in retirement homes. Here's a link to the website: http://lettersfromhomeinc.org/ It's kind of like what I am doing with Caring Hearts Card Drive. They don't accept cards, but they do accept donation to help with mailing cost and all. Thought I share the link here if it's something that you'd like to support.

On to cards, shall we? Since, I am working on tons of holiday card, sticking to simple & quick is a must. Here's a quick cards I made using the soon to be released Digital Doodles "Frosty Friend" snowman (you can purchase him starting next week at Two Peas In A Bucket). For this week though, you can win this digi stamp. Check out Kathy Martin's blog here for details and for eye candy from the DT.

Challenges:
Crafty Pad - christmas
Gingerloft - winter
Stamp Something - use something digi

This next set is for Thanksgiving. This turkey from DeNami is one of my favorite! He's sooo cute!

Marks Finest Paper - die cuts or a punch

There's No Place Like Home

Hi peeps! Have great news to share, but since it's a long story, let mepost my card first. LOL, that way anyone who's not interested to read  my story don't have to suffer reading the long post. Hah.

This week, at Paper Play Challenge the challenge is to create a project using ORANGE, OLIVE GREEN & BLUE colors. Please check out all the DT fabulous projects for more inspirations.

Anyway, on to my great news. Peeps..., after many weeks of stressing out, I finally got my ticket to Jakarta! I'm going home for Christmas! Yippie kay yei!  :)

I've been stressing out about being able to go home or not. I've been watching the price going up for weeks and with sinking heart, I thought, how am I going to do this. I want to be home for Christmas so badly & I miss my mom, my brothers so much. I kept praying, please let there be a miracle or computer glitch or glitch on the airline system, where maybe they posted the wrong price & I get to buy the ticket at that price.

Yes, I pray for computer glitch. I was desperate. :) Tuesday evening, as I pray hard while checking the price, I saw the price drop to what I can afford, for the day I need. The thing is because of work, I don't have flexible date on when I can go. I can only go during the slowest work time & also it had to be unpaid time off. So, good price was a must.

My mom is the type that always put others before her. She kept saying, honey don't worry, if you can't come home, that's okay, I understand. I am okay, don't worry. But, the truth came out when I called her and let her know I am coming home for sure. She was like, "I can't wait to hug you again!" Simple words, but to me so powerful. I can only imagine how hard it is to be so far away from your child. It's hard fo rme not to be able to touch her or hug her.

I cried and later I told hubby, to hear her joy, it's so worth it whatever stress I went through. Time with family is priceless. I mean, even as I  type this, my heart just filled with so much love. I am thankful  to have a husband who's so supportive & loving. Not both of us can go and we'd have to be away from each other for Christmas, but he knows how much I have missed my home and he encourage me to go because he knows this is important for me.

Not only I am home for Christmas, I will also get to celebrate my mom's birthday with her. Joy, joy, joy!

Thank you to all of you who's been so kind and encouraging when I was down. Your thoughtfulness means so much  to me and that's why I want to share this news with  you all. If you read this all, thank you even more for caring. :) Thanks for everything. I have the best blogging friends. Cheers!!

HA Pairing Up & Simon Says Stamp

Today, I have quite a few cards to share with you. I started another Hero Arts pairing up challenge. This time I am pairing up with Hannah F. Nicole. And our theme for this week is thank you card. I have quite a few people to thank lately, so this theme is perfect.   You can check out Hannah's card here.

Next...., I am super duper delighted to be sharing my card at Simon Says Stamp Challenge for this week. They are kindly supporting Caring Hearts Card Drive and dedicated this week challenge to the cause.

For my card, I used this tree from Hero Arts. I love this stamp from the moment I saw it. You can color it for any season. The litle turkey is from Denami Design, one of the stamp that I received from Susan Opel (Paper Crafts). Thank you, Susan!

Challenges:
Crazy 4 Challenges - fall or autumn

Here's my second card. I haven't use much kraft paper. At first, I wasn't sure if I like it, but I think it starts to grow on me.

And, last card. On this one, I actually covered all the leaves with diamond glaze, added bakers twine and popped the turkey.

I do this card drive simply because I believe that everybody should have something that make them happy during the holiday. And it's been such a joyful experience  for me, too and I've always wanted to do something meaningful for kids and the elderly. Jennifer McGuire inspires me with her Cards for Kids (I do have several cards for this waiting to be mail out), so with both card drive I get to support cause that close to my heart.

And, what amazes me & warms my heart is the support from the card makers and blogging friends. Every time someone emailed me saying they want to participate, I am filled with so much gratitude. I am in awe of everyone's kindness.

Oh yes, if you have some extra cards for kids, please consider mailing some for Logan & Bekah. They have "Spina Bifida" and you can read about them here.

Wanna share your love of card making and make other people happy? Then, join us for Caring Hearts Card Drive. We also going to have Caring Hearts Blog Hop this Saturday, 10/23/10. You have till Thursday evening to email me if you want to join the blog hop. Thank you so much for stopping by here. I appreciate all your supports and your thoughtful comments truly brighten my day. Hugs!

Pink

Pink, pink, pink! That's my theme for today. :) Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, Digital Doodles dedicated this week challenge with pink theme. For my card, I used Digital Doodles Home Sweet Home, Banner Bird, and Song Bird.

Challenges:
Wild Orchid - pastels
Corrosive Challenges - no white paper
Penny's Paper-Crafty - so long as it flies

This card is for my mom. My family & home in Jakarta has been in my mind a lot lately, so this card kind of symbolized that. The bird flying with the banner is me wanting to fly home.

I've been searching for good ticket price for weeks now. The ticket could be reasonable, but once they added the tax, that's where it goes crazy. Seriously, the tax is 1/3 of the ticket price. Still praying for some miracle that I can find one good deal, so I can be home for Christmas. I haven't been able to come home during Christmas since 1997. Sigh... the downfall of living on the other side of the world.

Don't forget to check out all the Digital Doodles DT projects here! Also, if you want to sign up for Caring Hearts Blog Hop this Saturday, 10/23/10, please email me you name & blog address. There's $25 GC prize from Wplus9 stamp company!! Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.

Now, on to my card for today, which I made for Moxie Fab World Perfectly Placed Pleat Challenge .

As you know, lately I've been playing with vellum a lot and that's what I used for this challenge. The banner & the grass were made using pleated vellum. For the banner, I pleated the vellum, glued, stamp it & then fussy cut it. With the grass, I only pleat & glue it, then free hand cut the grass. For the tree I used regular patterned paper, also pleated. Then added some blings.

I am happy that lately I've been able to use a lot of my scraps. I have 5 full boxes of scraps. So, I need to use them up!

Thank you for stopping by here and I hope you will join me on the blog hop. Have a great week, everyone!!

Mami Doodles & Caring Hearts Card Drive

Today is Mami Doodles day. We have new "CHRISTMAS" challenge for you and this new challenge is in support of Caring Hearts Card Drive. Elisa (creator of Mami Doodles) has many cute winter, Christmas or winter images and she's also one of the sponsor for the card drive.

There are many prizes for the card drive, from Lawn Fawn, Hero Arts, Paper Crafts, etc., and many, many others. Please consider joining in and you have till November 15 to mail in the cards. You can send Thankgiving, Christmas or Holidays wishes. The mission of this card drive is simply to brighten other people's holiday through the simple gesture of thoughtfulness.

I chose to focus on the elderly in nursing homes or care center in honor of my parents & grandparents. They didn't live in nursing homes, but they did feel the loneliness now & then. For that matter, I feel the loneliness each holiday simply because I am away from my mom & my brothers. My thought is I have my husband, in-laws, friends around me and I can feel the loneliness, the elderly in  the nursing homes most likely feel it even more. Nothing can ever replace being with your family or being at your own place.

The result of this thought is the card drive. We make cards almost every day, why not share our love for card making to cheer others, even if they're strangers to us, right? :)

This long card is inspired by Tanis' card from Caardvark's DT. I love this long shape. It's fun  to break away from the typical card shape once in a while.

This weekend I plan on making more cards for the card drive. I got some new Thanksgiving stamp, so will be working on that. Before I go, here's a cutie patootie Halloween tag I made for my niece. Love the spider web! :)

Challenges:
Pixie Dust Studio - fall theme
Creative Cottage - halloween
Stampin' Royalty - halloween
Karber Weekly - digi stamp & halloween

Thank you all for stopping by and have a blessed Friday. Cheers!

Today is the last week of my Hero Arts pairing up challenge with Joy & Robin.  This week, Joy chose one of my card for inspiration. Here's the card that Joy picked.

And, here's the new card that I created. I love the wild flowers & the gradient colors on the background of the card above and that's what I re-created on this new card, although this time I used mainly yellow & orange colors.

Challenges:
Kaboodle Doodles - fall colors
Paper Playtime - use orange as the main color
Stamps R Us  - all nature theme
Paper Sundaes - change of seasons

Happy Wednesday

Happy hump day! Which means, time for MyGrafico challenge. This week their challenge is "ANYTHING GOES". The DT glas get to play with Sarah Paris Clocks & Watches stamps & Crosshatched paper from Woofy World.

For my card, I keep it CAS. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.

Challenges:
Craftalicious - anything goes
One Stitch At A Time - use digi stamps / paper
Create4fun - use a digital stamp

You can check out all the DT creations here. I also have another quick card to share. Made this a while back and I don't think I ever share it here. It's using the samp from one of my favorite, favorite stamp company, Lawn Fawn. Every time, I look at this typewriter stamp, it makes me wants to get an antique typewriter for display for my scrapbook room.

I love the old school typewriter, for me it evokes such sentimental feeling. LOL, back in my elementary school days, I used to use them to type school projects. And, I think they look cool.

Challenges:
Tuesday Throwdown - 3 of something  (I used 3 stamps)
Daring Cardmakers - office theme

Thank you all for stopping by and I cannot wait for the weekend already. Have so many stamping ideas swirling in my head, would be nice to be able to work on some of them. Hugs.
